Next Saturday I have two more repertory walks, Viva Vauxhall! in the morning, and Amazing Grace in the afternoon.
Viva Vauxhall! is, and I don’t think you’re going to be surprised by this, a walk around that wonderful district in SW8, famous for its Pleasure Gardens and MI6 building. The walk starts outside exit 2 of Vauxhall tube, which is the one opposite the ticket office of the overground station, and finishes at Spring Gardens. This walk was previously called A Railway Runs Through It.
Amazing Grace is about the abolition of the slave trade in the British Empire. For such a grim subject, it is a surprisingly hopeful walk. I had some lovely feedback just last Sunday from someone who came on it last year. That one starts at 2.30 outside Monument tube, and finishes at St Paul’s.
Both walks last about two hours, cost £9, or £7 if you are over 65 or a full-time student.
I’ll be wearing my Blue Badge, and clutching some London Walks leaflets.
